The establishment of a high school in New Castle dates back to 1879. As the city grew, the original building became too small, and in 1907 the school district purchased land on Lincoln Avenue, with construction of a new building completed in 1911. This iconic structure was designed by local architecture firm W.G. Eckles and became a central institution for generations of New Castle students.
