First United Presbyterian Church, New Castle, PA

The First United Presbyterian Church building in New Castle, PA, has a rich history. The congregation originally met in a log cabin built in 1815 and later established the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church of New Castle in 1849. This congregation became known as the First United Presbyterian Church in 1858.

By 1884, the original church building was outgrown, prompting the construction of a new church on North Jefferson Street. Unfortunately, this building was destroyed by fire on New Year’s Eve in 1927. Following the fire, the congregation moved from downtown New Castle to Clen-Moore Boulevard on the edge of town.
